Surf, sand and space shuttle. Having been down three times, I can consider myself exceptionally fortunate; but at least once in your life, treat yourself to a sunset jog down Cocoa Beach before witnessing a space shuttle launch.
No painting, no novel, no symphony, no great piece of cinema or architecture compares to the beauty of the Space Shuttle towering & illuminated. And there is nothing mankind can witness that is as beautiful or as powerful as the launch of human beings into space.

6:00 a.m. 22 miles. Ooh-rah.
Yo! Capitol Hill Running Club, let’s hear it for us! We cleaned up this year. And with the marathon only a few weeks away, I think we can reach a bipartisan agreement on our collective awesomeness.
For you kids on the facebook, I’ll put a copy on there too.

Dear All,
I’m back from Siberia and – after long delay – the unintentional interregnum from Congress and policy has given me enough time to finally finish a side project I’ve been promising many of you. That’s right, XML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP have come together in perfect harmony; my new website is finally up.
I’ll be backdating entries to this blog to fill in photos from the last few years. In the meantime, click on the thumbnails for larger versions, peruse and enjoy. It’s certainly been long enough in the coming.

Osaka to St. Petersburg and back. Twice. Tomomi managed to upgrade significantly from the squalor conditions we enjoyed in 2006.

Anton Adazinksi; wild Russian multi-platform physical performance artist. Dude’s been going strong since the Soviet days. It’s like… alternative that’s been infused with ska, reggae, and a pinch of insanity.

C’est moi. Saint Petersburg is not a hard city to find oneself missing. Here, The Hermitage.

PANORAMA
Kazan Cathedral in St. Petersburg. Originally dedicated to Our Lady of Kazan, its purpose changed in the early 1800s to be a monument to Russia’s victory over Napoleon.

Omul is a white fish local to Lake Baikal but in the same family as the more familiar salmon. Best raw or lightly smoked and salted (lakeside – with vodka – where possible).
